The Pikes Peak Area Council of Governments (PPACG) serves as the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) for El Paso, Park, and Teller counties by providing programs and services for older adults and their caregivers. To provide those services and programs, PPACG contracts with nonprofit, for profit, and governmental agencies as well as providing some services directly. In a time of rapid growth of the 60-plus population, the services of the AAA continue to save government dollars by giving older people what they most desire: the ability to live independently in their own homes and avoid costly institutionalization.
The PPACG AAA funds these services through the federal Older Americans Act (OAA) and the state of Colorado. Persons 60 years of age or older and caregivers are eligible for services provided by the OAA. No fees are charged for services, and no one is denied services because of an inability to pay, although donations are encouraged, and for most programs there is a recommended contribution rate.
The PPACG AAA is currently accepting proposals from organizations to supply services to older adults 60 years of age and older and caregivers in El Paso, Park, and Teller counties. Each year the PPAAA accepts and reviews proposals for services to be offered following the state fiscal year, from July 1st through June 30th of the following year. Any organization providing services to older adults are welcome to submit a proposal online by visiting https://ppacg.oaa-sys.com/ppacg/rfp/public/Login.aspx and selecting “SFY 2022 RFP” from the Open Solicitations dropdown. Details available through the online system include RFP deadlines, period of performance, HIPAA expectations, financial requirements, insurance requirements, policies and procedures, and evaluation criteria.
